Vietnam Named World’s Best Golf Destination

 For the first time ever, Vietnam received the World's Best Golf Destination for 2019 award. The awards were presented in late October at the World Golf Awards in the UAE. Vietnam currently has over 30 golf courses built to international standards, and this number is set to increase to 60 by the end of 2020.

Saigon to Host International Music Festival

The southern metropolis will host the Ho Chi Minh City International Music Festival, or HOZO, from 13-15 December. A variety of genres will be represented, and artists from France, Belgium, Spain, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Greece, Cuba and Vietnam will be represented. The festival will be organized on Nguyen Hue’s pedestrian street in the city centre.

Nine Entry Points to Laos Cease Visa-On-Arrival Services

The office of the prime minister in Laos has announced that nine entry points into the country will discontinue offering visa-on-arrival services. Six of these are land border crossings with Vietnam, and two are land border crossings with Thailand. The only airport affected is Savannakhet International Airport. Laos’ e-visa service launched earlier this year, but it can only be used at international airports in Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and at the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.

Myanmar Expands Visa-On-Arrival Programme

Six additional countries were added to Myanmar’s visa-on-arrival program on 1 October. Now, passport holders from Australia, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain and Switzerland can apply for visas at Myanmar’s Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw international airports for a $50 fee. Citizens from these nations join those from India and China that were initially eligible for visas-on-arrival to Myanmar. Additionally, passport holders from Japan, South Korea, Macau and Hong Kong can enter Myanmar visa-free.

Victoria Mekong Cruise Connects Can Tho and Phnom Penh

The newest cruise on the lower Mekong River is the Victoria Mekong Cruise which connects Can Tho in Vietnam with Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The cruise made its maiden voyage on 11 December, and has an upstream schedule from Wednesday to Sunday, and a downstream schedule from Sunday to Wednesday. The vessel features 33 staterooms and 2 suites, along with numerous activities and amenities.

Myanmar Airways International to add 10th International Destination

The airway will add direct nonstop service to Seoul, South Korea starting in December. Myanmar Airways International will offer service four times per week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The route is slated to be served by a 144-seat Airbus A319.

Vietnam Airlines Welcomes 100th Aircraft; Launches Da Nang-Quang Ninh Service

The national flag carrier held a ceremony on 22 October to mark the occasion of receiving their 100th aircraft. The aircraft is Vietnam Airlines’ third Boeing 787-10, and is the largest aircraft operating in Vietnam, and the airline is set to receive five more in the future.


Vietnam Airlines also launched a new service on 1 November connecting Da Nang and Van Don in Quang Ninh Province. The service will be offered three times per week, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Service will be provided by the Airbus A321 aircraft.

Hanoi Adds Destinations to Double-Decker Bus Tour

The popular hop on, hop off double-decker buses in the capital have added three stops to the city tour: Nha Chung, Nha Tho, and Hang Trong. The buses already stop by some of the most popular destinations in the city, including Hoan Kiem Lake, the Hanoi Opera House, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Aman Launches Private Jet Service

The luxury property management announced that they will now offer private jet service throughout the region. Service will be provided on a Bombardier Global 5000 with 9,630km of range and seating for up to 12 passengers. Staying at an Aman property is not a requirement to use the private jet service. With customs requirements handled by staff, the goal of the private jet service is to allow guests to relax en route to their destinations
